This annual, free-to-enter contest welcomes photographers of all ages and abilities.
Climate change profoundly impacts our planet and society. Hosted by the Royal Meteorological Society, this competition offers a continuous visual narrative on Earth’s delicate beauty.
Platform & Quota: All entries must be submitted online via Zealous.co; no email or post submissions will be accepted. Each entrant may submit up to five images per category.
Photos must be the entrant’s total and exclusive work; no elements from other photographers or software‐bundled images.
Do not include your name in the file name, caption, or metadata (owner/creator fields); organisers will strip identifying data if present.
Provide accurate captions detailing shooting techniques; full disclosure of post‐processing is required at upload.
Images depicting people require the official Zealous model release form (adult or minor)
Entrants must secure and be ready to show proof of any necessary permissions for private land or protected areas.
Standard Chartered Weather Photographer of the Year
The Weather Photographer of the Year category offers a £5,000 cash prize to the best overall photograph showcasing the beauty and power of weather, open to photographers worldwide.
Standard Chartered Mobile Weather Photographer of the Year
Mobile Weather Photographer of the Year offers a cash prize of £2,500 to the winner, and is for photographs taken on mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.
Standard Chartered Young Weather Photographer of the Year
Young Weather Photographer of the Year offers a cash prize of £750 and is open to anyone under the age of 18 years old to submit their weather and climate-related photographs.
Standard Chartered Climate Award
The Climate Award offers a prize of £1,000 to the photograph that best tells a compelling story about climate change and its impacts. Enstries should contain a visual representation of weather and climate change.
All imagery MUST be the total and exclusive work of the submitting photographer and may not include any element that is the copyright of another. The Copyright for each image entered will remain with its respective photographer.
By entering the Competition and submitting your photograph(s), you hereby grant the Promoter, its sponsor, media partner and hosting partner Zealous, a non-exclusive, irrevocable license to use your photograph(s) for any purpose connected with the Competition, including (but not limited to), promoting the Competition within printed and online media, the inclusion within printed and digital versions of any subsequent book relating to the competition, the inclusion within printed and digital versions of Competition calendars and other merchandise, display at exhibitions, publication in other magazines or print media which the Promoter, sponsor and media partner may produce, promotion of the sponsor or media partner’s involvement in the competition, use in press, promotional and marketing materials, social media networks and for the promotion of any future photographic competition in both print and online media. In context of the above, the Promoter, its sponsor, media partner and hosting partner Zealous, reserve the right to make minor edits to the image for publication purposes e.g. resize or crop. In doing so they will maintain the photographer’s copyright and will not manipulate the image out of recognition. We request that all third-party media outlets covering ‘Standard Chartered Weather Photographer of the Year 2025’ also fully credit images used with the photographer’s name, although this cannot be enforced. The Promoter, sponsor, media partner and Zealous accept no liability for the failure of any third-party media outlet to credit images to the photographer. By submitting images, the entrant confirms that they have not licensed or disposed of any rights in the image that would conflict with uses to be made by the Promoter, sponsor and media partners. Other commercial opportunities may exist for photographers. Where such a commercial benefit is likely to arise, permission will be sought in advance in accordance with terms to be decided and agreed by the photographer.
